The Friends of Norwich Cathedral

The Friends are people from a wide variety of ages, backgrounds and geographical areas who are united by their shared interest in Norwich Cathedral.

Friends on an outing to Kings Lynn

The Cathedral receives no government grant but each year faces huge bills for maintenance and conservation.

The Friends of Norwich Cathedral was founded as an independent charity in 1930 to support the Dean and Chapter.  As a Friend you will:

  • Play a part in supporting this famous landmark in the centre of Norwich.
  • Belong to a worldwide group of people who are formally associated with the life of the Cathedral.
  • Contribute to the cost of maintaining the historic fabric of the Cathedral, as well as supporting new projects.
  • Be invited to attend a varied programme of lectures and social events.
  • Be entitled to a 10% discount in the Shop and Refectory.
  • Be entitled to limited parking space in The Close on Saturdays.
  • Be informed about what's going on in the Cathedral through two mailings per year – the Friends’ Annual Report in the Spring, and a Newsletter in the Autumn. These include information about all Friends’ activities.

The Friends also support the Cathedral by producing exclusive Christmas and greetings cards each year. These can be purchased directly from the Friends' office or the Cathedral Gift Shop in the Nave.
